October Half Term Halloween Events in Somerset
There are always lots of great fun events in the Autumn half term to enjoy, from special events at tourist attractions to pumpkin picking or just head out for a nice woodland walk then cosy up with a hot chocolate and a movie.
For all events please double check with the organisers for times and days and to book where required.

Halloween Events in Somerset (South)
Lytes Cary Manor
Visit this popular National Trust House and Gardens in South Somerset for the Lytes Scary Halloween Trail and enjoy the natural outdoor play area and marked trails.
The trail will take 30 min -1 hr to complete. Cost is £3.50 per trail and includes a trail sheet, pencil and mask. Normal admission charges apply.

Barrington Court
Join the search for the pumpkins around the estate, some will even be in disguise!

Fyne Court nr Bridgwater
Collect a nature explorer backpack and head out around the grounds on a scavenger hunt, do leaf rubbings, colouring and make a Halloween mask to take home in the music hall.

Hestercombe Gardens
This year Hestercombe near Taunton has a whole host of fantastically frightful activities to keep mini witches and wizards magically occupied this October half-term (Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2rd November)
Head along for a spooky day out, Halloween events, including the fabulous Skeleton Dog trail and get creative with spooky crafts in Hestercombe House. Plus photo opportunities with the Selfie Skeleton or Frankenstein.

Family Halloween Woodland Experience, ROAM, Dillington Estate
Enjoy Halloween in the Woods with Family Sessions over half term. The ROAM Outdoors Activity Centre has spooky Halloween activities. Follow the Halloween Trail to unlock a prize, carve a Pumpkin and eat ghostly marshmallows. Visitors will also have access to rope and tyre swings, slack line and mud kitchens.
This session is for families to attend together with a cost of £11pp. 25th October, 10am-12pm & 1pm-3pm. £11pp. Booking and more information available here.
Chard Reservoir AutumnFest
Tuesday 28th Oct 2025 at 10am – 1pm.
Join in with wacky raft races, hook-an-apple activities, apple pressinf and marshmallow toasting. Seasonal refreshments will be on offer for suggested CASH from the Chard Volunteer Group, and the Somerset Wildlife Trust will be on hand to provide an insight into what wildlife can be see this time of year.
The Chard Museum and Chard Library will have activities. Free event but £2 donation appreciated to help run the event. All children must be accompanies by an adult.
Yeovil Country Park
Friday 31st October 2025 11am – 2pm Head along to Ninesprings on for the spooky Halloween Trail in the woods on. Follow the pumpkin markers through the woods on this fun family activity. £2 per child

Ferne Animal Sanctuary – nr Chard
Head along to the lovely Ferne Animal Sanctuary this half term. Save the date 31st October. Enjoy a Spooky Trail plus Halloween Games and Halloween Crafts.
Ferne has an accessible trail throughout the Sanctuary, through a woodland with lily and dragonfly ponds, spot the ducks and other animals. There is a play area, café and gift shop.
Perfect for pushchairs and the like. There is also a plaque rubbing trail at Ferne Animal Sanctuary. Reduced admission charges apply for the event £5 adult, £3 children or for a small monthly donation enjoy all year round entry.
Somerset and Dorset Railway
Halloween at the Station – Enjoy an atmospheric Halloween Steam Train ride at Midsomer Norton on the 267th October – accompanied children aged 16 and under in Halloween costume travel free! 5 trains throughout the day. Book in advance. More details here.
Plus on 29th October, especially for the little ones, children are invited to bring their Halloween-ready teddy bears, dressed in their spookiest Halloween costume to join the festivities at Pumpkin Teddy Bear Day. A day of steam-powered excitement and playful competition. At 2.300pm the best-dressed teddy will be crowned by our friendly judges. The winning bear earns its family a free ticket to ride the train—for up to four passengers!
Yeovil Railway Centre
Ghostly steam train rides from the haunted house into the night, with a prize for the scariest costume on Halloween Night. Free Horror Bag for children on both evenings.

Wookey Hole
Wookey Hole has a resident witch all year round so this really is the home of Halloween. As well as the caves to explore there is much more to see at and this popular Somerset attraction which will be overrun with witches this half term. Fortunately the witches like to treat children rather than eat them!
There’s a giant vampire trail, Halloween circus shows, spooky surprises and a 4D cinema. Weekends in October plus half term. Book HERE

Half Term Week – Sleuthing Aboard Ship, a Naval mystery.

Forde Abbey Gardens – nr Chard
Enjoy a walk around the lovely grounds of Forde Abbey. Pumpkin rolling is back. Purchase a pumpkin, carry it to the top lawn and get rolling.
After the children have had their turn, it’s yours to have a go! Roll to your hearts content you can take it home for Halloween. Usual entry applies Adult £15, Child £6. Additional charge for your chosen pumpkin. 25th to 2nd Nov 2025.
Frightworks and Halloween at Weston-super-Mare Pier
Get your little pumpkins dressed in their scariest costumes and enjoy a day of pumpkin carving, tricks and treats for the whole family at the Grand Pier every weekend in October and daily in half term
Enjoy Halloween Face Painting and transform your little monsters into any number of Halloween characters, take part in the Spooky Scavenger Hunt and enjoy a train ride. Meet the Wicked Witch and try broomstick flying lessons. Tickets £20

Trick or Treating
Many communities now set up local pumpkin trails. Walk around like you would trick or treating and spot pumpkins or Halloween decorations in peoples windows and take your own treats. Check on your local Facebook pages or make a plan with friends or neighbours.
Don’t forget to decorate your own house. I love these old school folded paper decorations. Have fun!
