Boston Tea Party Honiton Cafe Review

I love the idea of being a lady who lunches! However being a busy self employed mum this is certainly wishful thinking most of the time.  Of course though, if you are invited to try out a new lunch menu at a local cafe then it would be rude to refuse!

So I was delighted to visit the Boston Tea Party in Honiton, a great independently owned cafe. BTP started life in Bristol and now has more branches than I realised (a total of 22) including Exeter, Bath, Salisbury, Winchester and Cheltenham.

The Boston Tea Party in Honiton is at the top end of the High Street.  Set in a lovely large, airy building,  there are three rooms to choose from inside and plenty of space if you are a larger group or have children with you and want to spread out!

An added bonus is the enclosed garden at the back. That looks perfect for a nice summers day and it’s dog friendly as well.

Food and Drink

I have always thought of the Boston Tea Party as more of a coffee and cake place rather than lunch.

Taking a proper look at the menu for once it was good to see and range of all day breakfast items, burgers, soup of day and a choice of vegetarian options. A good but not over whelming choice. The emphasis is on local suppliers and quality produce.

New on the menu was the Grain Bowls. I have to admit it’s a slightly eclectic combination. I chose the mackerel version (the other one was belly pork). The dish was served warm.  Lovely smoked mackerel, avocado and a fired egg layered onto a based of buckwheat and quinoa. Apparently it’s inspired by the Australians who brunch!  Well it really was very tasty with yogurt and dressing making this great combination.

Flat White and Cake

Of course with all the cakes on display and this being coffee shop it would be wrong not to try one, along with one of their special guest blend coffees. I like a decent strong flat white and this was just right for me.

So to sum up, Boston Tea Party is a great place. Head there for breakfast, brunch, lunch or just really good coffee and cake.

There’s room for a large groups, room for the kids and dog are welcome.  The staff were all very friendly and helpful to everyone they served.

The Honiton branch is ideal if you’ve been on one of my local walks like Coombe Woods or Roundball Wood .

I recommend you treat yourself if you are not already a regular either in Honiton or one of their other branches.

Thank you to the Boston Tea Party for a lovely lunch and I’m sure I will be back again soon. Take a look at their website for the locations of all their cafes and to find out more about them or follow on social media.
