Living By The Sea
Living in a beautiful part of the county is an absolute privilege and through this blog I hope to share some of the special places, experiences and events I enjoy with my family and friends in and around the East Devon and the Lyme Bay area.
For pulling this blog together and giving me the confidence and encouragement to pursue my plans, I owe a huge thank you to Neil Bigwood, whose fantastic pictures have made up this Lyme Regis page.
A little about me
I was brought up in East Devon, but with busy farming parents we didn’t often go out and about locally. My weekends and holidays were spent running off into the fields, making dens and helping to haul hay bales, with occasional days out with friends or family.
After school I moved away for work and finally returned to my roots in my 30’s. Now back here with my own family I have realised that there are so many wonderful places to see on my doorstep and a lot of cream teas to sample! So I decided to share this local knowledge and at the same time make some new discoveries of my own. So far so good – I hope you enjoy my ideas and suggestions.
The name of the blog is inspired by my two daughters, who being true country girls are happy in their wellies all year round, but if we’re going somewhere new usually ask ” mum what shall we wear, flip flops or wellies?”
Whether you are on holiday, recently moved to the region or like me live here and realise that there are great places just a few miles away that seem to have passed you by, then I hope you enjoy reading this. Please feel free to email me with any suggestions for future blog posts as I really want to keep on exploring as well.
“I try not to forget how lucky I am to live in this part of the world with my family – talking to holiday makers or friends who live and work elsewhere reminds me not to take this beautiful place for granted.”
